How To Get Armed Security Guard License In California

To apply for a security guard registration with the Bureau of Security and Investigative Service (BSIS or Bureau), you must be 18 years old, pass a criminal history background check conducted by the California Department of Justice (DOJ), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and complete the Power to Arrest course. Complete the power to arrest training before the issuance of a Security Guard Registration. Complete 32 hours of training in security officer skills within the first six months of registration. And complete the eight hours of continuing training annually. A certified training facility or a Bureau-approved course provider administers the training. Registration Requirements All registered security guards should maintain their certificate of completion of the required training for not less than two years from the completion date.
